Medium just brought up a JavaScript alert prompt asking me if I really wanted to close its tab when I hit ⌘W. It’s amazing how far out of its way that site goes to make its once-great reading experience miserable now. (Sadly, the prompt had no “kill with fire” button.)

I wonder how long until https://makemediumreadable.com/ will update their extensions (Firefox, Chrome) to block this.

@nitinkhanna I'm not sure whether uBlock would catch this (yet?), as it's actually a true old-school JavaScript alert dialog box, of the often useful sort that normally warns "You have unsaved changes" if you try to close/navigate away from a page you've entered text on.

@digitalfox Yeah, it was was pretty weird. I genuinely wonder whether the folks behind Medium know how much antipathy they're building up.

@chipotle hmmmm... Maybe, if they're being oversmart and using react or somesuch, it'll have a very specific class, like modal-somethingsomething. So it'll be easy to block with uB...
