@ningkantida If you think it will make you more creative, then sure, but I guess it depends on what you currently have?
@ningkantida I think you know the answer... maybe you're hoping for someone to validate the recklessness of that idea? π
@ningkantida would the new functionalities of the apple pencil enhance your ability to make art? If not (or no meaningful difference anyway), don't spring for it! But if you have the funds for it and it's something you want then by all means, life is short do what makes you happy!
@aleemshaun I can do the validation for myself just fine. I actually was kind of hoping that someone could tell me how to find the money to buy it πΈπ€π
@brandonwrites Donβt tempt me! I already got into the store. Luckily (or not?), itβs not available in my country yet, and no demos are to be found. Or you might see another post about my reckless spending habits by now π
@srgower @kimonostereo I have the iPad Pro 2020 256GB, which is almost perfect for most tasks except lettering. The annoying part is that the storage constantly gets full (Adobe Fresco requires at least 3GB of free space just to run the app!), and the RAM limits the layers in the Procreate app (my workflow requires a layer for each letter for precise refinement later).
However, the most frustrating thing of all is working on the wrong layer!! I find myself switching in and out of layers so frequently that I become confused after a while.
When I saw that the new Apple Pencil Pro could select the layer for you, I was eager to purchase it, only to realize that it's only compatible with the new iPads. π«
I'm considering getting the iPad Air 512GB. However, I will wait until the WWDC announcement before making a decision. I can no longer justify the price increase of the iPad Pro, but I will miss features like Face ID and ProMotion. π
I feel like itβs reasonable to get a new one, but itβd be such a huge investment!
@ningkantida ahhh, I understand. π You were too subtle (at least for me). Crowdfund it! Do you have a ko-fi account? Stranger things have happened. Good luck!
@aleemshaun I actually have a Ko-fi account that has never been used!! Maybe I should start a crowdfunding campaign where I'll create lettering using the name of a supporter who contributes to the cause, which is essentially just me getting a new iPad!! Would you like to be the first one? π
@ningkantida I feel like the iPad Air line is good enough for most creatives that aren't doing large scale production stuff. I too would wait until WWDC to see what the software side of the iPad landscape looks like before purchasing. If there are some areas that require the Pro series specifically, that could change your mind.
@ningkantida @kimonostereo it really sounds like youβd benefit from the new devices! And that Apple seems to have designed the new pencil with users like you in mind.
@schwa Itβd be only roughly $1100 in my case, so I kinda think itβs worth itβ¦ right? π
@aleemshaun No way!! You actually sent me the money! My first Ko-fi tip ever!
Thank you so much for supporting my iPad project. As promised, Iβm sending you the lettering design as a token of gratitude π I've used the color scheme from your website, so I hope you like it! π
@srgower @kimonostereo After some thinking, I feel like I really should go for it. Itβd be a nice upgrade that I could greatly benefit from. Itβs just a matter of financial responsibility at this point, since I have no source of income as of right now π
@ningkantida if you don't ask...
Oh this is so great!! Thank you. I had no expectation of getting anything I just wanted to send a few $$ your way to kick off your bold ask. Go well!
