I’m still figuring out whether to use NotePlan or Logseq for my daily logs. NotePlan feels more intuitive, but I’m a bit scared of their pricing practice. While Logseq is free, the queries look like something I have to learn for weeks just to get a weekly summary. 😅

@ningkantida I’m trying out Noteplan right now. I like how it works. At least for the time being, it’s a bit more intuitive in its functionality than Obsidian (for me). Visually, it’s closer to Bear, which is my favorite note-taking app, but it works closer to the way I actually need to work. I already put for Setapp, so I’ll use it through that for now.

@dgreene196 I really like NotePlan. The interface brings me so much joy to use. However, the pricing strategy is quite worrisome. The developer just recently doubled the subscription price out of nowhere, then said something along the lines with "I want the user base to be small and controllable." So, I'm afraid that at some point he might remove the app from SetApp—where I'm currently using NotePlan just like you. But maybe I should just enjoy the app while it lasts because it's such a good app.

@ningkantida I have no idea where the app will go. I will likely link the folder of notes in it to a vault in Obsidian, work primarily in Noteplan (for what I will use it for), and I’ll then have a back-up, of sorts, in case I need it. Are you using much in the way of plug-ins? Or primarily using the app in stock form?

Wow - expensive app - would nearly pay you just to use it through setapp - even if nothing else ..

Setapp and obsidian user - will take a closer look - sometimes you just don’t need the weight of obsidian to make a note!

@JohnPhilpin @ningkantida @dgreene196 Here are the notes app I have tried: - Evernote - Apple Notes (use Windows PC so it was bit clunky in the chrome browser) - Obsidian - Joplin - Simplenote

After all these apps, I alway go back to Standard Notes app.

I feel like you don’t pick a notes app, the notes app picks you. 🤣

Actually, the best thing about NotePlan is that it provides the cleanest markdown of any app I've tested—most plugins don't mess with the files—so you won't have any strange text in your files if you ever stop using the app. My main concern is which app will be able to meet my expectations now that I've been spoiled by this one. But, after speaking with you, I decided to stop worrying and use Logseq solely for my thinking space from now on.

@JohnPhilpin

Perhaps this is the marketing strategy that SetApp and Noteplan have planned together? I mean, it's a win-win situation for both of them. 🤔

And, yes, opening Obsidian can be a chore at times. So for me, NotePlan is a good middle ground. And the developer truly listens to the feedback, except for the pricing strategy part lol.

@JohnPhilpin I've tried a lot of note-taking apps (Evernote, Apple Notes, Obsidian, Bear, Craft, Logseq, Agenda, Drafts, and so on), but I'm surprised I've never tried Standard Notes! Though I don't have any more time or energy to try anyway. 🤣

@rcrackley I think NotePlan with Apple Reminders is a great combo. Had I been able to operate with only one workspace, I’d have gone all-in with NotePlan by now. However, I really need a separate environment between actions (NotePlan), knowledge (Obsidian), and thinking (potentially Logseq after experiencing with Craft a bit), so I can bring a different energy to each one.
