I adore my car, but sometimes it’s fun to drive one with all the nice, modern, touches.

@maique What is your daily driver versus the new card you're driving from your brother in law?

@nickkaczmarek My car is a Land Rover Discovery, from 1998. His car is a couple of years old Ford Focus. I do love mine, for this kind of trip, a powerful air con, and CarPlay, makes a huge difference. Also better mileage, and much lower toll.

It’s not one of those trips where I can take my time, perfect for mine, rather one where I just have to get there. If that makes sense.

@maique the early Land Rover discovery’s are such beautiful trucks. I wish I had the time and energy to own one.

@nickkaczmarek Never had a problem with this one, it just keeps on running.

@maique That is very promising. I'm also a big fan of the Land Cruisers from the 90s and early 00s but all of the above are so expensive unless you know how to work on cars. Which I do not. Maybe one day.

@nickkaczmarek I’m not sure if I’d be able to change a tire on mine, I have never been mechanically inclined. I do have a great mechanic, but he never gets to do anything too difficult. As I said, no issues so far 🤞🏼

@maique I think I could change a tire but any suspension or engine bay work would be way too much. I once changed the radiator (the whole thing) on my jeep and also differential fluid and after that realized I’d rather pay someone to do all that. 🤣 I’ll have to comb through your posts for a pic of the disco.

@nickkaczmarek That’s WAY above my skill level 🙂

Oddly I don’t have a lot of photos of the car, I’ll have to get a couple more. Not sure if I ever posted one, but here goes:

@maique you watch a couple YouTube videos and all of a sudden you’re a mechanic. Or at least I thought I was. Seems you understand your abilities better than I. 😂

Also what a beautiful disco. I just love those things. Giant back door. The little roof windows. Great vehicle.

@nickkaczmarek The only downside, and I had to wait over 20 years to find that out, is the lack of doors on the back. Never thought I’d have a child, and tinyMovieStar came along. It was a little trickier to get her inside on the first couple of tries 🙂 But now she’s used to the higher seat, and the huge window on her side, and complains when she’s in a regular car 🤣

@maique oh wow I don’t think I’ve ever realized that either. That would be a challenge for sure. Sounds like tinyMovieStar has good taste!
