@nathanrhale I share your concern about authentic Christianity suffering collateral damage. Fortunately, relatively few who invaded the Capitol bore Christian symbols.

But religious populism was pandemic in the birth of bog-standard American Evangelicalism, and today’s political populism rhymes repeatedly. Read Nathan Hatch’s Democratization of American Christianity.
