😳 How did Hansel and Gretel survived as a fairy tale, from 1812 until today??

Poor parents abandoned a couple of brothers. A witch found them, fattened one of them to eat him, while keeping her sister as a slave, on cooking and cleaning duty.

Sounds like a fairy tale?

@maique All fairy tales are the same, they're about teaching kids to behave and obey their parents, or this is what happens to you! 😛

@maique The original fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm were very brutal. They were later toned down, but in fact they were still somewhat harsher. I also recommend the movie Brothers Grimm, which was quite good.

@maique Our fairy tales are bad indeed.

Makes me always wonder how much they influence the harsh realities Disney movies come up with. There's so often parents slaughtered in the beginning of the story.

@muhh We were talking about this yesterday. Disney movies from when we were young were a bit harder than the ones coming out now.
