The new version of Reeder is out today, rebuilt from the ground up with an entirely rethought approach to feed-reading. It’s going to be a big adjustment for longtime Reeder fans, but I think it just might be onto something.

My review, including a detailed look at how the new Reeder differs from previous versions, on @macstories: macstories.net/reviews/reeder-

@devondundee @macstories Tried it.
Nice idea but not for me.
Need something that syncs with my selfhosted FreshRSS.

@devondundee @macstories sounds like it’s trying to more like Readwise and similar apps. Not being able to use Feedbin nor organise them is a no go for me. I wish apps would stop trying to be the everything app.

@devondundee @macstories This sounds a bit similar to what @Iconfactory has planned with Tapestry (apart from the plugin system), doesn’t it?

@devondundee It sounded pretty good till iCloud sync-only. I'm sure that's good for many, but I like my freedom to move platforms as I see fit. Glad Classic is kept around.

@devondundee @macstories @viticci wow, that sounds 100% awful to me. Glad he’s not killing the real Reeder.

@devondundee @macstories Definitely not for me (Day 1 Reeder user).
YT, Mastodon and Reddit are available in Reeder Classic as well.
"List" UI wastes so much space.

@devondundee @macstories I can't wait for Silvio to stop providing any support to customers in about 2 weeks

@devondundee @macstories ok, so the classic version stopped working for me and Silvio doesn't care. I tried this new app and it is plainly bad, it's not remotely useful.

@devondundee @macstories this is a great app if you don't care about reading but want to pay a subscription fee to someone who won't offer support

@devondundee @macstories After 24 hours transitioning between Classic and new Reeder, I mean rethinking howto use it in my personal day to day -taking into account the “services " I use daily and how I want to access them using the possibilities the new Reeder propose- I really love the new app, amazing…

@devondundee @macstories … The price is fair. Just hope soon “Folders” and manage text size in ”reader view”. For me, two “must have”. Anyway, looking forward to seeing, new functionalities and improvements to existing ones that the author will implement in the future. Thank you Devon! and Rizzi for such a great app!

@nachogoberna @macstories Thank you for reading and sharing, Nacho!

On iOS and iPadOS, I believe you should be able to increase the text size by adding the Text Size slider to Control Center, opening Reeder, long-pressing the slider in Control Center and changing it to “Reeder Only”, and moving that slider up. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it could be helpful until the app gets more customizable.
