Question for the Apple cognoscenti…

How much email storage can you get with Apple Mail?

For example if you have signed up for (say) a couple of Tera Wotsits in icloud … does that mean your Mac mail system can get pretty giant?

@JohnPhilpin I’ve got about 20GB between my various accounts in Apple Mail (the app). I pay for the 2TB plan mostly because of my photo library. Mail does fine for me. It’s reasonably fast and reliable. I like it.

@JohnPhilpin yeah, you’re only limited by the size of your iCloud account. So, depends on how much email and attachments you get. I’ve got a 2TB account and two decades of mail is taking up a very small portion

@mroutley @Baker

thank-you both. I have waaaay too many accounts not on apple and as I have reached levels of fullness - moved folders onto my mac - which is assiduously backed up - BUT - of course i can only get to those emails on my mac - AND - on the mac is still not quite as safe as having them parked in the cloud.

so time to set up an archive folder on my mac account and start moving those folder onto mac.

like you both i have a 2Tb cloud - but for some reason I have always assumed that my mail account is counted separately - so didn't want to overload it …

it just occurred to me that I was nuts watching someone doing what I do - but parking it in their apple mail … I clearly have been over complicating my life.

Onwards!

@JohnPhilpin @mroutley I use Fastmail and iCloud Mail. I also have cloud backup. I periodically archive my various accounts and put them on my Synology NAS and into my cloud backup. I feel ok about the stability and reliability of my mail given this strategy. YMMV.
