I Won’t Buy Another MacBook Pro Until Apple Drops the Touch Bar (Or Makes It Optional) infinitediaries.net

@moridin I feel like your position on this is too extreme. I like the touch bar, personally. I understand that it is polarizing, so I agree Apple should offer more choices (e.g. 15” in addition to the 13” that does not have it), but saying that you won’t buy another MacBookPro unless Apple abandons it entirely is really extreme, IMO. As a blind VoiceOver user, VO isn’t the best design for a sighted user, but it’s how I use the computer. THe touch bar works really well for me in conjunction with VoiceOver, but I wouldn’t say that i’ll never buy another MacBookPro unless they stop shipping them with screens. I don’t use the screen—I don’t need the screen—and I have to still pay for a screen every time I buy a Mac laptop of any description. I would not suggest they stop shipping Mac’s with screens just because I don’t like or need them. Just some food for thought. 😀

@Lioncourt It is but I have very specific needs and expectations. I spent over a month with the Touch Bar and I hated it. It lowered my productivity and introduced friction into a product which should strive to eliminate it as much as possible. By "abandon" I mean make it optional. I would actually pay to not have it at this point. The MacBook Air keyboard actually solves this problem (but it's not for me). I cannot imagine being in your situation and quite frankly.

@moridin I feel your pain. They should offer an option for your needs, certainly. I just don’t think MBPs with and without touch bars have to be mutually exclusive. I hope they offer an option that works for you in the future.

@Lioncourt I've been thinking about selling MBPs without screens. One issue would be if someone was to help you do or fix something. Also and please don't take this the wrong way, looking at people's reactions to the Touch Bar, I'm guessing people with sight handicaps are in the minority.

I try to bandage up my eyes and use VoiceOver every other year, as if I couldn't see myself, just to get to know how everything works. I'm very curious what you think of the new VoiceOver features in Catalina and iOS 13, when they come out. I tried them on iPadOS 13 and was extremely impressed.
