Tomorrow Inshallah, I am looking forward to my trip to Paddington, West London
@mmn I thought Paddington was from London too, just like Priti. Although sheās very Priti, she doesnāt have an arch-English name either, so that doesnāt become her. Iām in pain and Iām angry. This was beneath me, and I should never have written it. The assumption that I made, was that Priti Patel wanted to expel Rwandan refugees from Britain. Next, it made me think of the Norwegian politician (and immigrant) that was a member of parliament and a immigration policy spokesperson for the right wing Progress Party. In that position, he always used to lash out against refugees, and called them thieves and liars. Then a few years pass, and he get caught making up fictive travel expenses numerous times. What a disservice to all immigrants and refugees! Now everyone that have believed that they are all thieves and liars have gotten āproofā.
@odd Paddington came from āDarkest Peruā and is very much not welcome under the current policies coming from The Home Office that she currently heads. Iām sure heāll create new stories in Kigali (subject to application under Rwandian immigration law)
@odd So sorry I missed your reply!
There are several cute Paddington statues all over the station.
@DiplomaticDiva Oh, I didnāt know! (Never actually been there). I learned recently that the story of Paddington has some racist undertones, which makes me sad. Now I know of three books and a book series from my childhood that is/were tainted with this. I guess they reflected the authorās living in a racist, or at least diversity intolerant society.
@odd just saw the edit - āThe assumption that I made, was that Priti Patel wanted to expel Rwandan refugees from Britainā no youāre quite right there, her immigration policies are pretty vicious even by the Tories lowest of standards (and the ECHR agrees) www.bbc.com/news/uk-6ā¦
