My birthday present arrived a couple months early: a Planck EZ 40% ortholinear keyboard. Please excuse me for a while: I need to relearn how to type. 😅

@mjdescy This is when you go hardcore and switch the layout to Colemak.

@mjdescy Nice! Once you go ortholinear, you never go back...

@pimoore You may be right.

I am a little concerned about switching back and forth between QWERTY and an alternate layout, because I will still have to use QWERTY keyboards in some places. But, with an ortholinear keyboard, it may be so different than my other keyboards that my brain will just go into a different mode when using it.

Did you switch to Colemak? If so, how was your transition to it?

@mjdescy I’ve considered it but have reservations for the same reasons as you, even though it’s supposedly a much better layout for typing than Dvorak and QWERTY.

@bsag I hope that’s true. Which ortholinear keyboard do you use?

@mjdescy I have an Ergodox EZ. It took me a little while to adapt to an ortholinear layout, but once I did, it feels so much more natural than a staggered layout.

@mjdescy Nice! 🤩 I got a Planck EZ recently, too, and decided I’d take the plunge and switch it to Workman layout. So you’re not alone in relearning how to type on the little thing! 😅
