As a rich American whose basic needs are more than met, I think I could have been even more successful, faster, if I knew my family’s basic needs would be met. Universal healthcare, subsidized food, and housing are the least America can offer to residents. It would pay dividends.

@danielpunkass Amen. I'm pretty privileged, but one reason I am not doing any of the things I slowly figured out I want to do is I can't afford the risk to my family. And I know so many talented, hard-working people who aren't even getting their basic needs met.
