We went to the Hirshhorn Museum to see their Basquiat X Banksy exhibit, stayed for this magnificently decorated room by Laurie Anderson. She spent more than two weeks working 10-hour days to paint it in 2021, when she was 74 years old, and you can see the experience seep through the walls.
@JohnBrady I had no idea that Laurie Anderson ever took a holiday from performance art to, ummm, actually sing.
@JohnBrady Also a fan here! “White Lily” is a particular favorite for me, can’t remember which album that’s from. I love hearing it with headphones.
@ReaderJohn She had a hit single in the UK with ‘O Superman’, back in 1981. I had to check the year, I admit. It got to number 2!
@devilgate I’ve picked that fact up, though not that it was that long ago. I was hearing her on a low-power FM station out of Von’s Books by the Purdue campus, and it definitely was more performance arty than straight music. Heard a lot of Nick Drake then, too.
@JohnBrady Ashamed to say I had no idea about her music, but will have a listen! The crow was taller than the average human, though not as big as this photo may make you think :)
