As the day ends here, I find myself still thinking over what has happened in Maui in the last 24 hours. Disbelief at the level of destruction, especially in Lahaina as it looks as though it has been raised to the ground, but also to those who have lost homes in Upcountry Maui. @crossingthethreshold I thought of you when I heard, David. We stayed in Kaanapali a few years back, which I’ve just seen is a stone’s throw from Lahaina. Safe travels back, I hope you and yours remain safe.

@jasraj Thank you, Jas. I see that a lot of visitors who are staying on that side of the island are leaving, for safety and also because resources are stretched. Extra flights are being put on, they are being flown to other islands, and also having to camp out at the airport.

And I didn’t know that you had visited Maui.

@maique We are having a lovely time here in California with family and friends, but as I read the news I am feeling a wish to be back home. Right now I have no idea what I will do, but I think that it is wanting to be back to see and feel what has happened, and the community around me.
