@mdhughes but you are presuming that other users have the same requirements as you.
To take but one example - almost none of the people I know who use linux use twitter on the desktop. Why would you do that? That's not what a desktop is for. The few that do use it through bitlbee.
A torrent downloader, likewise, is a tool. Mine doesn't even have a UI, it sits on a headless server.
I'm not even getting into your nonsensical comments about LibreOffice. Don't like it? Don't fecking use it.
@dgold They don't use desktop apps because the few desktop apps they have are awful. It's a cycle of misery, but it can be broken by learning to make nice apps.
@dgold As for LibreOffice, people do need to read and write documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, for business or home, and LibreOffice is not a good solution.
@mdhughes yes, it is a good solution:
Again, just because you don't like the look of something, you don't get to determine that "Its shit" for everyone.
@dgold Nobody running Linux is "in disadvantage", it's all rich white nerds who choose to live as hippies. Actual poor people, the 6 billion not in 1st world countries, just pirate Windows and Microsoft Office, and have a better office suite.
@mdhughes oh, seriously, get in the ocean.
Sincerely.
I honestly thought you were interested in having a polite discussion, instead you just continually fling shit at the bars of the cage of ignorance and privilege you've erected around yourself.
plonk
@dgold You have not exactly been civil, and you're the one that's aggressive about Linux only being used your bug-eating way, not made useful to real people.
@mdhughes Civil? When have I been uncivil?
Oh, is this the new Civil 2.0 nonsense which means "Accept that I am correct and offer no countervailing opinion while I continue to insult and belittle other people ad nauseum"?
In the last few responses and posts you have:
I'd say "Check your privilege" but I'd be afraid of triggering you.
@dgold Have you ever read anything Linus writes? But my comment about him is very clearly about his kernel design choices. Are you asserting you or any Linux nerd you've ever met is not a rich white nerd? Because I can show you Linux meetup photos.
