I must be dense.

I do not understand the freak out about Tik Tok and user data. Why is it worse for a Chinese company to access American’s location data that American companies sell willingly?

I must be missing something about this the moral panic.

@joelhamill It’s the link to the Chinese government that’s the issue. Not that I think US based apps are great.

@mcg @joelhamill Link to the government plus opacity of the algorithm. Someone in the US government is (with good reason, I think) nervous about Chinese government controlling what millions of US teens are exposed to.
