Christmas is just hard on me. Every year I feel I have to steel myself, get ready for battle. I am not alone in this. I wonder what a calm and relaxed Christmas even would look like. In any case: I’m trying to stay empathetic (or sympathetic if I can’t put myself in the other’s shoes), ... blog.martin-haehnel.de

@matti I'm also not a big fan of Christmas, even though ours is calm and relaxed. For me part of it is all the expectations around it.

@Miraz I'm sure that expectations and how hard it is to communicate them is a big part of it. It also seems that the more people are involved - and my Christmas involves a lot of people - the likelier it is to have mutually exclusive wants/needs. Ugh.

@Miraz Hi, I've been watching a lot of videos about Pitcairn Island. Recently one said that the largest source of income the island has is from honey from their island. Have you ever seen their honey for sale in shops near you? I'd like to buy some.

@Ron I've never seen their honey I'm afraid and was honestly surprised to see they're allowed to export it to us. We have extraordinarily stringent biosecurity controls on honey. It looks like they can ship direct to the US though — just astonishingly expensive. But that's what you get if you're a tiny island a very long way away from anywhere else.

@Miraz Yes, their ad says their bees are super healthy because the island is so remote. At one point their island was very unusual because it was free of Covid. So maybe that reputation gave them a chance to export their honey. I may just buy some direct from them. I just gotta make sure I don't get any obsession about going to visit their island. That would be a very expensive activity. Their main form of communicating to the outside world is Morse code, which is my favorite ham radio activity. 📻
