Although I don't agree with everything he says either, I do think that Cal Newport's distinction between deep and shallow work is valuable: Deep work is the ability to focus without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. This communication tool just promotes busywork.
You are always in control of what gets shared. Turn off your mic or camera whenever you want — or let them turn off automatically when Teamflow is in the background. Need to focus? Set an away message and lock your space.
Negotiating availability on a day to day basis is stressful. As somebody who is about to finnish his working day which mostly consisted of meetings and calls: I recoil thinking about having even less of a chance to get out of a colaborative context. (Yes, to relax, but also: to get important work done).
