@herself what are you using to do this?

@herself FWIW my father was buried at sea and it was “the best” funeral I had to go to (I now this sounds weird). The most peaceful ceremony I can imagine.

@hutaffe @matpacker intriguing!! Maybe I'll do it. Might give them all a bit of a laugh. At least that way you don't have to worry about embalming, etc...

@Burk it's a website called Justly. It was recommended by Sorted, which is a kiwi "get your shit together" website :)

@herself I’m strongly considering requesting a natural burial. There’s a place here that provides for such arrangements.

@schuth Please explain. What is a “natural burial”?

@khurtwilliams Basically, a natural burial is one in which an unembalmed body, placed in a shroud or unvarnished coffin, is buried in a natural setting with minimal disruption of the landscape (no vault, for example). A conservation burial, involving restoration, would be ideal.

@cambridgeport90 As far as I know, natural burial is a legal method of interment in the US (not sure about other places). Some states require embalming or another method of preservation if there will be a delay before the funeral, but other than that, I think this is an option for most folks.

@schuth is that something one can do legally?

@schuth I think we are starting to do them here too.
