I've done / am doing similar. I've all but given up drinking, am watching what I eat, drink at least 3 litres of water a day, and am making sure to get at least 9,000 steps in a day. So far I'm down 22kg / 48lbs, still have another 10kg or so to go. I feel a lot better for it, have less health issues, better mental health, and more energy each day.

It's a tough road, but a worthwhile journey to begin!
