I just had a pancake stack for breakfast at a New York diner. I‘d say that a large stack in Australia would include three pancakes; this stack included five, not to mention the coffee whose smallest option was a jumbo mug. If I don’t survive, it has been great knowing all of you.

@martinfeld coming from NZ originally, I had to learn the secret to surviving US restaurants: they don’t expect you to finish. It’s fine to only eat half, and optionally ask for a box to take home the other half. Not that I’m very good at that; my mother brought me up to “clean my plate”.

@dejus Haha yep, my mother (and grandmother) taught me to do the same thing. You make a good point although unfortunately we weren’t in a position to ask for takeaway, with plans to walk around for a while afterwards. WE BEAT THE BREAKFAST!
