Facebook should just acquire LinkedIn. It’s the same damn thing.

@Burk Yeah, since I stopped opening both of those apps I get all these nonsense notices - they sound much the same. Early on LinkedIn felt useful for staying in touch with colleagues, doing some recruiting etc. But then it turned into a like/share/spam platform. I’m deleting my FB account this week. For now I’ll keep my LinkedIn account but turn off all the notifications.

@Burk I agree with you. LinkedIn is basically Facebook but dressed up as professional communication with memes almost exclusively about leadership. Ergh

@martinfeld it's turned into a professional circle jerk over the last year or two as more and more people have become "gurus" and "thought leaders"

@matpacker Yep and besides actual recruiters I do wonder how many people actually use it for professional purposes, rather than just scrolling through feeds.

@martinfeld a couple of my colleagues are passionate users of LinkedIn, they're sales people, and as much as I've tried to ask them to post it to the company blog and then share it to LinkedIn so that the clicks come back to us, they just don't get it.

@matpacker Yes that’s really frustrating. I’ve faced similar issues at my work in getting people to use social channels properly. There’s a world beyond the walls of the closed network!
