I know that no network is perfect but I continue to be impressed with Micro.blog. I don’t feel like I’m wasting time here. It feels calm and genuine—free of the advertising and garbage that piles up elsewhere. Most of all, I love that people actually respond here; this is communication.

@martinfeld "calm and genuine," yes! I have only been here for a little under two months, but I do sense a different experience than other platforms. I have this feeling that I have found something closer to what I want to experience online, and the shared participation of the community is showing me that there is another way of being in a virtual gathering.

@crossingthethreshold You’re right; it does feel more like a virtual gathering. I still enjoy using Twitter but have seriously reduced the number of people whom I follow. It simply became to much of an overwhelming news source, rather than a feed for engagement. Now with a more focused Twitter feed and Micro.blog (for new people and discoveries), I think that I’ve achieved a better balance.

@martinfeld There are times when I check Micro.blog -- whether on the web, official apps, or third-party apps -- and suddenly feel like I can take a breath.

@simonwoods Which app do you prefer to use with Micro.blog?

@martinfeld The web at the moment, mostly because there is no Windows app and I only have a Chromebook for non-office computer time. For my phone Gluon and Dialog are basically tied, though it's still not a true test due to a lack of posting functionality and the like. I have yet to try Icro on my iPad so this answer will probably change again, heh.

How about you?

@simonwoods I can understand your mixed use there. I use Icro on the iPhone and iPad and tend to prefer the web version on the Mac. I’ve occasionally gone back to the default app on iOS devices for the push notification support but ultimately Icro offers a nicer interface. Like you, change on my home screen is inevitable! Ha

@martinfeld Is it just me or does Icro randomly not allow you tap links? The link is always correctly underlined but sometimes I cannot tap on it. It led me to abandon the app.

@pyrmont Great question! I had that issue yesterday for the first time whilst talking to another user. I couldn’t reach his links and the app crashed each time. He said that he was posting them from the desktop client so perhaps it doesn’t like certain links.

@martinfeld Yeah, it was not every link that I'd see it. I kept waiting for it to be fixed but gave up and reverted to using the website.

@pyrmont Do you use the website on iOS as well, rather than an app?

@martinfeld Yeah. I don't like the official iOS app (I have it installed for notifications) and I like being able to open links in background tabs in Safari. The only problem is that text input doesn't have autocorrect but that could be a setting somewhere on my phone.

@pyrmont Very interesting... I may have to try this set-up. Thanks!

@martinfeld If you write a lot, the lack of autocorrect is pretty tough going. As a result, I tend to open the native app purely to compose posts.

@pyrmont I'm keen to give this a try. I enjoy the website on the Mac but it'll be interesting on iPhone and iPad.
