@martinfeld Re technology affecting story lines — You know, the Marcia Muller series of books featuring Private Investigator Sharon McCone began back in the 1990’s. I’ve read most of them. I can recall that back in the early books McCone did things like run to find a telephone, wait till Monday for the Library to open to find information, have problems finding places she was driving to. Your thoughts on TV storylines were interesting. 😀

@Miraz Yes, that's a perfect example of what I was discussing! Thanks for telling me about those books; I hadn't heard of them. Naturally, new technologies lead to other forms of storytelling and potential plots, however I think that there's something to be said about the fact that our devices now just make it easier to just do stuff.

@martinfeld Your point though about how plots are tightly integrated with technology is a good one. Things have to happen at different speeds or with different complexity. I think too about how DNA test results are instantly available to TV cops now but not too long ago it was a several day wait…

@Miraz Oh yes, DNA! Ha! Super-complex processes would always be completed on CSI and NCIS in a matter of seconds, haha.
