@gregmoore Right? Honestly, I think any student who went through this list would get through the best of film history and through a good chunk of a “proper” film education. Couple this with all the great filmmaking fundamental videos one can find on YouTube (and all the cheap-ish and great camera gear readily available nowadays), then that’s all a student would really need to start making movies now. What a great time to be alive for young filmmakers!

@mariovillalobos A most excellent list. Still, I would put Singing in the Rain in the top 20 — sad it’s not in there.

@miljko For sure! This is most definitely not a complete list. In college, I took an entire course that focused exclusively on musicals, a genre I didn’t appreciate at the time but came to adore by the end of it. I had only seen it the one time, but I still think about Victor/Victoria when I think of musicals. What a great film.
