With Eero forcing users to upgrade to their $99 a year service (from between $15-30 a year), I’m out. Firewalla purchased. Whatever my next wifi router will be, it won’t be Eero.

@shep I'm a huge fan of Asus routers and an even bigger fan of Asuswrt-Merlin open-source firmware for them (https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net). You can use the Asus Firewall or install Entware and then install any firewall (or third-party software) you like.

@marclafountain thanks, but I'm a set it and forget it type of guy, which is why I went Eero in the first place. I just bought a firewalla to replace the lost Eero secure functionality because it seems the most user-friendly.
