My first longer road ride in a while and I got caught in a heavy rain shower almost immediately. FML. I need to invest in some sort of easy to remove fenders for this bike. I’m happy that I finished the ride not feeling completely exhausted but the coffee stop was necessary.
@mangochutney ugh! I can't imagine riding a bike in the rain. It's one reason I only briefly considered bicycling to work when work was a 50 min ride (20 min by car). Especially not through the snow and hail and sleet of New Jersey winter or the 100% humidity and 32-37ºC summer.
@khurtwilliams Yeah, I'd probably feel the same way if I had to commute by biek daily. If I work from a coworking space I go there by bike if I'm not bringing the dog and that's a short commute. I mostly cycle for fun and actually like bad weather rides but I don't want to risk my winter fun by getting soaked and cold. So fenders it is. I hate having them on my gravel bike but well, it's better than the alternative.
@mangochutney my goal next year, after my last eye surgery next week, is to start cycling. I have the whole winter to practive on the stationary bike. My motivation is to be cycle around the area stopping at the local tavern for a pint.

@mangochutney I celebrate Diwali with my wife and her family but that was months ago. I just don’t know what to do with this time of the year, especially living in the USA. So ... I either say Happy Christmakwanzakah but this year, hanukkah falls between December 22 and December 30th. So Happy Hanukkah.
