I’ve had this Windows tablet for the better part of three days and every minute of using it makes me sad that the iPad Pro is so artifically limited. An iPad Pro that can run macOS when connected to a mouse and keyboard would be an absolute killer. Instant purchase.

@mangochutney The relative freedom of macOS is indeed powerful. I am growing increasingly concerned about the iOS-like limitations being layered on top like sandboxing, SIP, and other things that take control away from users. This is not the convergence I was hoping for.

@gabopagan and this is honestly what irks me. I’ve done so much productive work on my various iPads over the years. Wrote papers on it, even parts of my thesis. There are productive tasks iPads excel art and recent OSs have improved this, like the better files app, yet doing some proper layout in Pages is still not an option, when it’s really easy in the macOS version. And don’t even get me atarted on not being able to add music to the Music app or audiobooks tk Books.

@fgtech I totally get what you mean, yet the foundation of the OS is the same as before and I can run software of all sorts, if I trust the source. There are a number of apps I use on the Mac regularly that don’t exist on the iPad. Not because AppStore rules wouldn’t allow for them but because iPadOS is intentionally limited, making them unviable on that platform.

@mangochutney 💯 In my case, I like to create things with the technology in my hands. I can still do what I want with a Mac. The iPad is slowly, painfully getting more capable but it just doesn’t do what I want. It has no value to me in its current state.
