@numericcitizen Yeah, I know 🙂 I used it a long time ago, then it started acting up, and I was also happy to drop the subscription. If I can make it happen with Drafts, it will always be my first choice. If it doesn’t work with Drafts, I might also drop it entirely. That’s how much I love Drafts.

@maique funny how the “Drafts vs Ulysses” thing cuts the same as eMacs vs vim. No one I know uses both for some reason. I use Ulysses and used Draft; someone gifted the former to me so the latter doesn’t get used.

@starrwulfe I can’t say I agree with that. I have used Ulysses in the past, to manage the blog. I used it for a few months. But, all through that time, Drafts kept its spot on the Dock. As it did before Ulysses, and after Ulysses. And I did use both at the same time.

I wouldn’t even put both apps in the same category. Ulysses does one thing relatively good (in my opinion), while Drafts does everything but coffee. I use it for a ton of stuff, day in and day out.

This is how I’ve always felt about Drafts. I think every long form blog post I’ve written has started in Drafts.

That's in the next beta. 😂

@maique @pimoore Fair enough-- I only managed to use Drafts for about a week back in 2018 on a free trial but wound up going with Ulysses because they had a deep discount for teachers (before all this subscription nonsense IIRC. Everything's a subscription now. đŸ˜«) I might check out Drafts due to the extensibility though...

@starrwulfe drafts is the second app that gets installed on any new device - been using it for years and always discovering new things. right now it is beginning to replace my need for things - though admittedly things is overkill for my needs.

@starrwulfe @maique I too hate the incessant push toward subscriptions. They’re warranted within reason, namely there are timely and consistent updates and work put into the app, and/or there are server and bandwidth costs for data. Beyond that it’s a hard no, and if the updates and attention to the app stop, you’d better believe my subscription will. Ulysses is a hard one for me, in that the app does see updates, but has been buggy lately. Sadly, Scrivener is a poor iPad citizen compared to its Mac counterpart, so Ulysses still seems like the best option for long form.
