If I post a photo to MB with alt text is that included in my cross-post to Mastodon? I’m trying to verify it is but having some (probably user error) trouble.

@maique That is … “unfortunate” and disappointing. I have no idea what technical issue might exist but as a user it is sad. Hmm, any way for mastodon posts to flow to MB automatically instead? Ever since I moved to fosstodon.org there is a lot more interactions there than on MB for me.
@ronguest Your Mastodon account has an RSS feed, so you can add that into your account settings, and have it show up here.
@ronguest Yes, yes it would. There’s a new feature, you can have the feed imported into your blog. That’s what some of us are doing with the status updates from status.lol.
@maique Would you mind sharing how you do the status integration? What is the format for the RSS feed and do you select the “Add posts to” or “Import posts to” options?
@ronguest Import feed into the blog. It’s then published on my blog, as a post, and included in the timeline.
Your feed for status.lol is
https://YOURUSERNAME.status.lol/feed
@ronguest My pleasure. Hope you get everything working, but let me know if there’s something wrong 🙂
@maique Hi, me again with another question 👋 My toots go to my blog and show up in my MB posts but don’t go to the MB timeline. My mastodon rss is set to “import posts” in the MB accounts section. Is there something else I need to do?
@ronguest Might be a silly question, but do you have your blog’s RSS feed importing into the timeline? I believe this is the default for M.b hosted blogs, but I can’t see another reason. If the Mastodon posts are in fact importing into your blog, they should show up on the timeline, unless the whole blog is not.
@maique I don’t because I feared having both my mastodon and blog in there would get duplicate posts. But since no posts are showing up I guess that was unfounded. I’ll add my blog’s feed and see what happens. Thanks again.
@ronguest It’s up to you, of course. If you want the Mastodon posts on your blog, you can import them into the blog, and have just the blog’s feed going into the timeline. As if the whole thing is just a blog.
If you want them as two separate entities, don’t add them to the blog, and have both feeds going into the timeline.
If you just want to have your mastodon feed in the timeline,… you get it 🙂
