One of the apps that I love using, even though I’m barely scratching the surface so far, is Grocery.
Great watch app as well.
Have to dig deeper, read the manual, and get used to Markdown Recipe Format.

@maique Hmm. Does it have the ability to scrape recipes in different languages? Currently I’m using Paptika 3 for recipes, and Handlelisten, a good Norwegian shopping app.
@odd I don’t think the scraping is up to Paprika level. I might be wrong, as this is a part I have yet to explore, but reading the manual makes me feel it’s simpler than other recipe managers.
@maique I see. I used to have twitter:@_DavidSmith’s recipe app, but iirc, it was sunsetted. I must admit I’m underusing Paprika a lot.🫑
@maique the app seems nice! I’ll give it a try. But lately we just use Alexa for that as we usually just add stuff as we remember by talking to her. Then when I’m on the store, I open the app to check the list.
@pcora I love the small details on this one. It uses an Apple Reminders list, so movieStar can add stuff from her end, and the app makes it super easy to add stuff you bought before. That alone would be enough for me. The way the app shows the list, and the watch app, are a step above the regular Reminders app too.
@maique This is a fun topic.
Grocery looks fun and familiar to anyone who uses Reminders. I’m tempted to download it for fun, but I know I’d continue to OmniFocus. It’s always open on my laptop, so if I think of anything I need, I’ll just input it there immediately.
I hoped to use a shared groceries list using Reminders, but no one was interested. Pity. It would have made things so much easier and everyone happier.
I just wrote a couple hundred word about not having recipes locked into a platform and how I’m working on exporting all my recipes into Obsidian. And then I read the Markdown Recipe Format. Problem solved. Thanks 😀
@alexink See if this fit you. The app has a few features that might me very useful, like adding whatever ingredients are needed for a particular recipe, or easily add stuff you bought before, great for staples. I believe it has a free tier, but the pro account is also quite cheap. Look around though, it’s a busy category of apps.
@alexink @maique Jumping in to say I use and love the Grocery app too. I love using Siri to add items to my shopping list, and use the app while cooking too. It's a bit unstable on my Mac so I no longer have it open all the time there but it does just fine on iPhone and iPad. I haven't actually used the watch app yet. Love using it on iPhone while I shop.
@Miraz Glad to know I have fellow fans 🙂 I don’t even have it installed on the laptop, not sure if it works on my old OS. The watch helps a bit, improving the shopping, because I don’t have to hold the phone 🙂 I can use my hands to do the actual shopping 🤣
