If you’re a omg.lol user (and why wouldn’t you?), and you love the new status.lol feature (brilliant, right?), while still adoring Drafts (yeah!), maybe you should take a look at @podiboq’s new action: omg.lol Status.
It’s great.

@maique Looks like status is not yet activated for me, oh no! Is there a switch to throw somewhere in my omg.lol settings?
@alans Try using https://vukkyy.github.io/statuslol/. Hopefully that will create the API key on the omg.lol beta site home.omg.lol.
Ah, that did it! I didn't realize that I had to make a beta site API key (different from the one at prod). Whohooo! 🙏thanks
@alans Yeah, it’s not written down anywhere because it is still very much beta, I believe. Glad you got it working 🙂
@pratik Hmmmm… Can’t say I’m skilled enough to reply to this one. Have you tried turning it off and on, meaning delete and re-install?
@pratik Did you use it before? Because the API keys were refreshed in the meantime, and probably need updating. I’m just not sure how to force update… Drafts saves the credentials somewhere, and it needs to purge that so you can input the new one.
I remember I had to do this a while back, for another app that had a key, but can’t recall what I had to do.
@pratik Found it! On Drafts’s settings, there’s a part called Credentials. Go there and try to find the correct one. “Forget” it, and it will ask you for the credential again.
@podiboq 🤣🤣🤣🤣 No work at all, no compensation required, it’s a pleasure when I can help someone with tiny stuff like this.
@maique are there any tutorials for using this? Or like a gallery of examples of what you can do with it?
@maique sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant omg.lol. I paid for one but I’m not really sure what to do with it and you seem to be the resident expert :)
@UndamnedOne Hahahaha. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I do love the service.
At its core, it's a landing page. You can use it to direct people to your site, social media accounts, whatever you feel like. You can see mine here.
Adam, the developer, keeps adding features, and you can now also use the other services on the omg.lol suite. There's a pastebin service, also a Mastodon instance, and a simple blogging platform is coming soon. There is a sort of URL shortening as well. And a switchboard, allowing further control of all the features, you can use your own domain for everything.
You do get your own omg.lol email, and you also get to control the DNS for your omg.lol domain. If you're a Fastmail user you can fully use your email with it, including setting it up for masked emails.
You can see most of the available features at their homepage.
Hope this helps.
@maique not being much of a techie 👨🏻💻 (that’s not me writing code; it’s me hiding from the rest of the world) I understood about ⅞ of the words you used just now lol I’ll explore it some more for sure :)
@UndamnedOne Hahahahaha. Granted, the service is a little better if you’re, at least, technically inclined ☺️
The landing page is not that hard to set. If you find you could use one, it’s a good, cheap solution. And, if you want to try Mastodon, the instance is also cool. Of course you can have similar for free, but the cost of having an account there is also very acceptable, for me. All the other things are cool to play with, but you’ll need to figure a bit more out. Still not too hard.
Let me know if you’d like to test it, I’ll be glad to help you out. Maybe via email, or something🙂
Thanks for clarifying - cos I had been wondering myself ... there do seem to be a lot of these single-page link aggregator sites out there - this one seems to have attracted a lot of MicroBlog users.
@JohnPhilpin It is a lot more than that, even though it started as nice looking one.
