Solar

A Casio G-Shock watch. A simple, small, one.

Happy with the solar feature. Don’t care that much about Bluetooth, but not worrying about batteries is a big plus.

How’s yours, @helgeg? Arrived?

@jaitalking Hahahaha. The GA-B2100. It’s basically an evolution on the successful model from last year, the GA-2100. It adds solar charging and Bluetooth to a great model.

@jaitalking Another plus! The new version is priced at €149, and the older, non solar, I believe it’s €99. They’re on the lower end of the G-Shock price range. Plenty of colors to pick from on both models, but the older one has a TON more.

@maique What does Bluetooth do on, on the surface at least, appears to be a “regular” watch? Secret music playing capabilities? Configure it with an app instead of the impossible to remember button press sequences?

@jamesvandyne I wondered the same, but didn’t ask. @maique

@jamesvandyne No secret music (or anything else), I'm afraid 🙂 You're right on the second part, though. It allows configuration of all the features, including World Time on 300 cities, instead of the thirty something you get if you're doing it on the phone. It also has an automatic time sync feature, that connects the Watch to the phone a couple of times a day, and sets the time on the watch based on the phone's clock. Might be handy if you're traveling across time zones frequently. Anyway, considering how accurate these watches already are, I don't think I'll use the Bluetooth features a lot. You can turn them off.
