My wife’s 2015 Mac Air finally die, just like that. Worked Tuesday night, dead on Wednesday. Now she won’t pay for Mac, she just wants a cheap lap computer. oh well.

@hawaiiboy Sorry to hear that. My 2012 little one is still going, but not a day goes by without worrying it might just die too…

@maique this is the difference between solid state drives vs spinning drives, solid drives just up and fail, at least spinning drives first throw up failed sectors as a clue something is coming and lets you save some things.

@maique sorry. I’m of an age that I recall the first SSDs were very prone to failure. If I recall Apple had a replacement program on some in those early days

@hawaiiboy I’m probably of that age as well, but my memory might be having disk failures 😇🤣

@maique I also used to manage an Apple reseller then and recall the Apple repairs that we saw.

@hawaiiboy Oh, inside information then... Mine has been acting great since day one, and I never gave it's age a second thought until Big Sur came out and I realized I wasn't going to be able to update it. That's when I looked back and found out how old it is!
