@cheri I think we have many transitions in our lives. As women we have a major change around menopause, of course, but as we age we notice many changes of all kinds. Evidence is we become a much more diverse group as we age too.

@cheri I loved this post. It really resonated with me. I was just realizing last night that I have become much more introverted over the past few years. I thought it was due to focusing on development more, but I think there is more to it. Thanks for sharing!
@Miraz That makes a lot of sense. I'm curious what you mean by becoming a more diverse group. Do differences in beliefs/attitudes become more pronounced?
@cheri A couple of years ago I read This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism. From memory, the author pointed out an 80 year old and a 90 yo have less in common than a 20 & 30 yo, for example. Yet older folks get ‘lumped in' together as a homogeneous group.
@cheri @miraz. Ashton Applewhite's TED talk was super-inspiring. Let's End Ageism.
I was the classic outgoing social person. I would be so uncomfortable if I didn't have plans on a weekend evening. After my diagnosis as bipolar and the years of adapting to that, I learned how much I like to have quiet downtime, especially on the weekend.
@macgenie Thanks for that link. Glad to hear your diagnosis led you to a better understanding of your own needs. I’ve almost always been more of a quiet and stay at home person. Very happy with my own company.
@macgenie @cheri I recall watching that TED Talk a couple of years ago — probably led me to read her book in the first place. It was extremely refreshing to watch it again!
@cheri First I love the Hindu idea of transition in life. My recommendation is to go with how you feel. If you try to fight it it will just stress you out. Life tells me that we all go thru our introvert and extrovert periods some periods just last longer than others
@klandwehr You're right. And I should keep in mind that I may flip back and forth! Changes need not be permanent, and who knows? :)
