Are those the party logos on the right side of the ballot? (I assume I’m looking at parties not candidates.)
@lukemperez They are, yes. 20 of them on this district (it’s the capital), but not all run on every district.
@maique Right on. At first glance I thought it was odd, but then when I remembered it's parliamentary (not congressional) that it makes sense and has advantages because it makes it easier for voters to find their party.
@toddgrotenhuis Hahaha. No, no they don’t. They do have pens, of course, but cheap plastic ones. Ever since the pandemic started we’re encouraged to bring our own, if you weren’t doing that before 😊 I always carry a pen anyway, so…

@maique Simple ballot design. Name next to party symbol, I suppose. Interesting that some have graphical symbols and others have text ones.
In India, you’re assigned a random symbol, much like an emoji (hand, lotus, elephant, bullock cart, broom, etc.) Election slogans often use these in wordplay to help voters associate them with the party. Also, these symbols helped coz literacy rate was low in India (even now it’s 78%).
@Miraz @pratik Name, initials and logo. The all caps it's probably because the party was registered as such on the Constitutional Court.
The logos are picked, as the name, by the parties. Some have a design and some only the initials, or name.
I still remember that some years ago the ads also mentioned the logo, as in "vote for the party with the rose", or "pick the arrows". These days not so much, probably because literacy levels have also risen a lot.
Anyway, two of the parties (socialist and social-democrats) will probably get near 80% of the vote, as usual, and maybe 4 or 5 others will get seats in the parliament. The others are just too small to get there.
There have been changes lately, we had a 3rd and 4th party with a decent amount of MP, and they'll probably get a lot less, or none at all, and some others are raising the rise. Worryingly.
@pratik Sadly the nazis got a lot more votes than I expected but, thankfully, the government party, the socialist party, also managed to get a LOT more votes than we hoped for, and they're close to a full majority. The good work they have been doing can resume.
@pratik Yup. The rulling party got an outright majority in the end, so the nazis won't have a chance for now.
