Tried the Canon R3. Lovely camera. The price? Not so nice 😔

@mpmilestogo The X100 was, and I guess still is, one of my favorite cameras. I had a couple of them, before moving on. But I always wonder if I shouldn't get the latest version, it's a great camera. Having said that, if I had the money for it, I would be in the same exact situation as you: camera? or phone?

@maique @mpmilestogo FWIW, I made that very call a year ago. I got the iPhone 12 Pro Max (since the better “zoom” lens was available only on the Max size). It was a tough swallow when I looked at my final price. But I thought to myself, “self, who knows how long this pandemic is going to go, or when those vaccines are coming, and most of what you’re photographing now are those at home moments when you don’t have time to get your camera.”

In the year since there have been a few times when I wish I had a proper camera on me. (I really want that Ricoh GRIIIx.) But a year in, I’m very happy with the choice. I’m sure if I had an x100 or a Ricoh I’d take it around, and I’d get good shots. But it isn’t clear that I would necessarily take more than having my phone on me.

I do miss a good workflow with raw files. But that might be just me not really using the raw feature on the iPhone.

@mpmilestogo all that seems right. I have a Sony a7ii (and am in no rush to upgrade); it has a 35mm lens on it and is almost as compact as the x100. When my wife and I want “better” photos for the holidays or when our on trips, it’s clutch. But I wouldn’t buy one right now.

@mpmilestogo Thank you for the tacos photos, they are appreciated. As far as cameras/phone goes, there is always another camera I’d like to have, and also another phone. But, even though I have a few cameras, the phone is always what I end up carrying these days, unless I’m working. Sometimes I wish I had a proper camera with me, but these moments are far apart these days. @lukemperez
