Tried using Obsidian to manage my work tasks for a tighter integration of their associated notes. A worth while experiment but I’m moving tasks back to Things with Hook based links instead.

@philbowell I know people use Obsidian for tasks and it works for some people, but I'd rather have a specific app for that. Also...maybe I should go back to things. I never had it on the Mac and now that's a big deal. I've been on todoist for a while but the change last year broke my system.

@ChrisJWilson yeh, I thought it was worth a try, but getting tasks into it and under the right project note was cumbersome. No matter what app I try I keep returning to Things every time.

@ChrisJWilson what did todoist change last year?

@philbowell Have been happy using Logseq for this sort of thing. Tagging a task with the project and they all show up on the project page/note.

@mcg that’s the second mention of Logseq I’ve seen today. I’ll have a look at it.

@philbowell things 3 is amazing. I used NotePlan for a while and I liked it but I’m back to things again.

I only wish things had an option for teams.

@lukebouch I gave noteplan a whirl about a year ago but it didn’t stick. The only complaint I have with Things is the way repeating tasks work.

@philbowell yeah I agree. It’s not very intuitive and it’s not possible to “skip” a task one-time.

@lukebouch this is the thing that drives me mad, and I can’t complete it early either.

@philbowell it would also be great to be able to create incrementing to-dos like Day 01, Day 02, etc. I have a course I have that is organized in days and I have to manually add all 100 days.

@lukebouch there’s the option to add a new task after one is complete on a repeating task, would that help? Or do you need the name to count?

@philbowell I would like to keep track of what day I’m on so I do not think that would work very well.

@philbowell I don’t think I replied but the free version changed from not having labels and comments etc to having all that but a limit of five projects (but you could have sub project) so my old system was based on project. I have half changed how I use it but there are some aspects that I just can’t easily change and so haven’t.
