As someone who previously used Windows as their primary OS and now uses Linux, I have learned a few things about the Linux community.

For instance, if you complain about Linux you are most likely going to be met with one of the following:

* You just don't like it because it isn't Windows.
* It isn't Linux's fault, it's your computers fault.
* Distro X just sucks, Distro Y is what you should be using.
* You shouldn't complain because it's free.

@austincnunn there’s definately a learning curve. The cool thing about Linux is it is nearly infinitely customizable. So as a desktop Linux user you slowly collect the UI hacks you like. When I was a desktop Linux user I had such an esoteric setup Jenny couldn’t use it for basic tasks.
You can also use all kinds of weird experimental stuff years before it comes to windows or Mac. Doing this stuff is part of the user experience for Linux users.

@Mark Yup. Not a complaint about the OS itself... mostly...

@austincnunn there’s a bit of luck involved. If Ubuntu or Mint work out of the box and recognize your peripherals you’re good to go. Pick an LTS release (Long Term Support) and it’ll run and update flawlessly for years.

You might still come across some quirks if you branch out a bit into the more obscure settings.

If you’re unlucky, it can be very frustrating.

I used Linux for years. Multiple distros. Now I prefer macOS by a wide margin. I’m a heretic that way. 🤷‍♂️

@austincnunn but have you tried the Hannah Montana distro. That will solve all your problems 😉

@lucas It's taking a long time to update, is that normal?
