@martinfeld I remember one time when I had to use a pay phone downtown, (this was before cellphones), and when I was going to put a coin in the slot, it was full! So I could talk however long I wanted. I don’t think I did very long, because it’s so noisy down there. 📞

@odd That would have been very handy!

These days, all the Telstra payphones in Australia are free. I rarely see anyone using them but it’s good that they’re still around.

@martinfeld Here they’ve dismantled and removed all but a few. They’re even in the process of ripping up all the copper from the ground, so no more landlines. Crazy if you ask me. From a emergency standpoint that is ludicrous. They are citing high maintenance costs.
