@lmika Substack does the same thing if, due to changed interests or disappointing content, you cancel a subscription and the part you paid for is soon expiring. I think they start a week ahead and send a few more.

@ReaderJohn Really?! That’s seems quite pushy to me. I mean one or two occasional reminder emails I can understand but if it’s constant for a week, that’s not a great user experience.

I think for these Patreon emails, it feels like a bug. I back a few other creators but I don’t seen reminders from them: only for this one. And it’s every 30 minutes, which seems suspicious.

It reminds me when I was in my first job and we were using some tool to handle support emails from our customers. It will occasionally get into a state where it will just continuously spam either our customers or us with a single message until we went in a deleted it. I remember one time it spammed one of our customers with the message asking someone to delete the message that it was spamming. That poor customer; she sent a reply along the lines of “I would if I could.” Can’t have been fun seeing all those emails.

@lmika it isn’t constant. It starts about a week in advance, and there are one or two additional reminders, including the day before expiration.
