It was only after I switch to Ecosia that I realised how often I use DuckDuckGo’s shortcuts like !g. It would be nice if Ecosia had them as well. Maybe it’s time to look at a launcher so I can get it at the OS level. 🤔

P.S. Point 4 of this post is the reason why I switched.

@lmika Check Seth's FAQ. Apparently they use #g instead.

@lmika I’ve been bouncing between DDG, Kagi and Brave Search lately. Hitting that “!g” less and less.

@lmika I’ve been a long time fan of DDG. I’m trying to decide what to do still. Really disappointed in DDG.

@mcg Yeah, I think my use of !g is more because of habit, formed a number of years ago when the results from DDG were not as good. I think things have improved since then. In fact, I've just been thinking today that Google really doesn't give me anything better than what I find on Ecosia or DDG (in fact, I think the results are slightly worse).

@ronguest Yeah, the news this week doesn't really help their image. Although for me personally, it's not so much that DDG has fallen out of favour so much that Ecosia has gained in favour.
