Part of me is wondering whether it makes sense giving Mastodon a try, maybe setting up a domain and instance hosted by Masto. The only thing stopping me is wondering what I would post there that would be different from what I post here.

@lmika Honestly, nearly all of what I post on Mastodon is a duplicate of what I post on my blog (often I tinker with the text or abbreviate and add a link to the full post though). The value I get from being on it is really being able to communicate with a wider group of people than I have on Micro.blog (there's a lot of overlap in my feeds on both sites, though πŸ˜†). It depends what you think is worth it, of course, but I don't think it'd really be a problem if your posts on each are much the same.

@jayeless Yeah, I guess the social aspects of Mastodon is where the bulk of it's value comes from. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by that given that it is a social network after all. πŸ˜€

@lmika Don’t think it’s that much of an issue to post the same things. It is POSSE after all. Not sure you need to run your own instance tho.

@mcg Yeah, I probably don't. I was thinking of buying a .socal domain name and using that as a handle that is sort of portable. The price turned me off a little though ($33.99 USD /year πŸ˜•).
