@lmika You could say a similar things about pre-web3 startups and tech. For me, it’s not trying to make money, it’s a solution, looking for a problem. That could be solved in a less complex way using other tech. Layered with scam and grift.
@mcg Yeah, I think that’s a very reasonable argument to make. And I can understand the idea of those simply playing with the technology. I do feel, however, that the most recent incantation of the space has been somewhat corrupted by the idea of making a quick buck, which seems to manifest in trying to shoehorn the tech into solutions that make little sense, are very inefficient, and are riddled with scams.
@pimoore Yeah, I kind of get that feeling as well, especially after reading all the recent posts from web3 is going just great.
@lmika I read a very apt analogy that Web3 standards and NFTs are Beanie Babies for rich people.
