@ridwan thanks! hey i noticed you are using blot.im. I am about to move my main blog over to blot from wordpress. How have you found the service. Personally i am tired of the wordpress backend and new block editor. Looking forward to writing everything in markdown.
@lewism I do have a Blot blog but have not updated it in months. I'm planning to use it as a "share my learning journey" type blog so I will be doing a complete refresh at some point in March or April. Blot gives complete flexibility to personalise your blog and with just moving plain text files in and out of folders, it is easy to maintain and run a blog. I have grown to like Markdown. It's simple and fast. There's something serene in typing on a plain text file without the fuss about formatting. Moreover, Dave, the developer is super helpful and will be able to assist you in porting all of your content from WP to Blot.
I have talked about the positives now one key drawback with Blot is that there's no community there. You kind of feel a bit alone there. I raised this issue with Dave and he doesn't have any plan in the future to address it. I don't blame him for that. Blot is not known out on the Internet. So, if you are looking for a community maybe you can use Blot and link it to M.b.
I guess you will need to ask yourself "What are you looking for in a blogging platform?" and "Why do you want to make the switch?". Hope this helps. 👍
@ridwan Yeah I think i am ok with there being no community on blot but a nice low friction website tool. I am new to micro.blog but am enjoying a great community over here, so maybe both can live side by side.
