I am ruminating on cross-posting once again. I wish there was some simple solution, I know the Fediverse makes it ‘easier’ but it by no means means makes it ‘easy’. 💻😐

@BenSouthwood I am forever iterating on this. If micro.blog implemented mastodon hashtags on the native post, not just on the cross post, I don't think I'd need to be anywhere else.
@leeperry Exactly. It seems to be hit and miss finding and following Mastodon accounts from here as well. I’m not always convinced replies from m.b make it to the intended recipient, either.
@BenSouthwood I can usually locate accounts, but discoverability of content is another matter. Searching for #ukRunChat or #utc won't pull up results from outwith micro.blog.
If it did, that would be gamechanging. My ideal is one profile, through my website, on micro.blog doing everything.
@leeperry First and foremost, I think I need to work on just what I want to blog about, then take it from there. I’m simply existing everywhere at the moment and I think cross-posting occasionally overcomplicates as sometimes, the post is only meant for micro.blog eyes.
@BenSouthwood I think crossposting could benefit from the same filter approach as categories.
ie photo post > share to pixelfed, longform > no crosspost, cat image > share to bluesky etc... Otherwise you share everything everywhere by default, unless you remember to turn it off.
@leeperry Yes, there should be more than an ‘all or nothing’ approach. I don’t know how easy that is to implement, and I appreciate the work that’s gone in to making cross-posting available.
