the people sending these texts use a template to text about 100 people at once from a desktop/laptop. a

nd yes, the sender can see their replies. (obviously, the vast majority of people do not send replies)

@atomicbird No idea. Thought it might be a fun experiment. I get enough spam already that I’m sure I’m on plenty of lists. So the ‘replying only confirms your number’ cat is probably long out of the bag. So I figured why not try to have some fun with it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@macfixer FWIW that number I used is apparently for an actual kink hotline. 😄 I looked up a list and just grabbed one.

@chartier I had to look up the phone number in that. Good choice.

@philomath I saw another good one floating around Reddit that looked decently convincing that the spam/number had been caught by an FBI program and that some such department had been alerted to malicious activity. Wish I would’ve kept it.
