@otaviocc Currently I don’t use Obsidian but have been curious to try it. I use Drafts to publish to Micro.blog. Does your plugin let us upload and link to images? Or is it text only?

@pratik I've been using Obsidian, and the micropublish plugin has been invaluable. Keeps me in the flow without having to jump to another app. Good for pulling quotes. Pairing Obsidian with Readwise brings all my Kindle highlights, feeds, and research into Obsidian. Everything working together!

@pratik implementing image upload is next on my list. There are a couple of challenges to overcome, but I'm confident I've figured them out. The only hurdle is finding the time to work on it. Currently, my schedule is packed (work, baby, language classes for citizenship test, etc.). However, image upload remains the top priority in my backlog.

@otaviocc Of course, no rush at all. @jarrod has done a ton of stuff with Apple shortcuts that I use in Drafts. Dunno how Obsidian plugins work but something worth exploring so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel

@leeS That’s what I’m hoping to achieve. Drafts does a lot of those things too but everything is stored in Drafts and not text files like with Obsidian

@pratik the key challenge lies in respecting Obsidian's role as a Source of Truth for many users. They trust their vault to be consistently available, even offline. Uploading images shouldn't involve replacing the editor's image with a simple HTML tag, as that would render the image inaccessible offline. Additionally, I want to avoid unnecessary re-uploads when users edit their posts or pages (as with Micro.publish functionality).

@otaviocc Ah! I should understand the underlying assumptions for Obsidian. As I understand, when you insert an image in an Obsidian note, it’s copied to the vault. So probably uploading and linking to the image on Micro.blog as well as the vault is not easy.

@pratik Yes, exactly. I use Drafts for quick drafts and formatting outputs. I have the Claude.ai API hooked up to it. But txt files are what I really want. I can find them. They aren't platform dependent. I can see them. Comforting. Practical.

@otaviocc Excellent. Thanks for sharing your thinking. I agree about first staying true to the system you’re writing in
