How in the hell...?
@jcrabapple That’s…impressive.
@jcrabapple Somehow the bed was raised and ran into the sign. The driver has been cited for reckless driving. Fortunately no one was hurt.

You tube is full guys like this who were too busy on the phone/cb to drop the trailer after tipping the load.
Quite an impressive catch by the sign 😎
@jcrabapple I _had_ to look this up.
It's a dumptruck-style trailer that can be elevated for unloading and the driver was driving down the highway with it _fully extended_. You can see the extension rod in the photo and it makes sense once you know what it is.
It looks even taller because the force of the impact knocked everything even higher into the air.

@moira @jcrabapple
Like, he forgot about it or ignored the beeping sound?
I feel like those vehicles have warnings to literally prevent this user error.
@paninid @jcrabapple got me
maybe the links between carrier and cab weren’t hooked up right, that can also happen
@jcrabapple
A similar incident occurred on the M5 motorway in Britain last year.

Now if this was in Florida, I wouldn't even give it a second glance.
@jcrabapple Even better when they clip an overpass and they have to shut down the bridge AND the highway until engineers can assess the damage AND THEN, repair or replace the bridge. Now you're screwing people over for an extended period of time.
