The web is being littered with AI-generated content. Looking for a recipe? Advice on a medical issue? Perhaps you’re troubleshooting. You read a few paragraphs of the article before it hits you: a human definitely didn’t write this. The website you’re looking at is somehow worse than a recipe blog with a long story and ads, it’s an AI-generated recipe blog with a long story and ads.

Therefore, I believe it’s everyone’s imperative to genuinely invest in making websites again. For ourselves, for our businesses, for our interests.

@gregmoore I absolutely hate looking for cooking information on the internet. Just a colossal mess.

@alexink @gregmoore I couldn't agree more with a single word of this. AI is already crossing an extremely thin grey line, and I don't like where we're headed.

@mandaris Have you heard of the Mela recipes app? It's from the developer of Reeder, the RSS reader I've used forever. It really helps with finding the recipe amongst stories, ads, signup forms, etc.

@alexink @pimoore Independent sites and blogs are key to keeping at least some pockets of actual humanity on the internet.

@gregmoore I’ve thought about trying either this one or something like it. I’m hesitant about potential lock-in and whether the 30-45 seconds and frustration has accumulated enough to justify the cost.

@gregmoore Yeah this is definitely true! not only that but search engines should down rank these articles. Just because they're complying with all the SEO, who cares? They're just doing it to make money, well the person behind it is anyway.

@gregmoore Of course Google will never do that, because it's Google, but I haven't used google search in at least seven years now.

@gregmoore I don't actually care about the real recipe blogs. They're just trying their best. There's a link on a lot of them now where you can just jump directly to the recipe. If they want to infuse a bit of personal flare, I'm OK with that. They just shouldn't go on for like four or five paragraphs of it.

@ladyhope Yeah, there’s a huge difference between recipe blogs with long stories by humans and SEO chum sites using recipes as “content.”
I also haven’t used Google for any direct searches for several years now. I doubt they’d care if they ever noticed but it improved the experience for myself.

@gregmoore I'm sure Google doesn't notice. Unless more people stopped doing so that is. There's definitely a difference between seo sites, and real blogs, that's for sure!
